WILLEMSTAD - Yesterday an unknown man drowned at Playa Canoa (north-east side of the island). Ambulance staff tried to revive the man, but that was to no avail.

Witnesses had just seen the man on a rock and a moment later he was lying in the rough sea.

Swimmers managed to get the man out of the way with great difficulty.

His name is only released when the family has identified him.
