UNDP Representative Mr. Ugo Blanco meets with Governor of Curaçao

WILLEMSTAD - On Tuesday, August 15, 2023, Mr. Ugo Blanco, the representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) for the region encompassing Trinidad & Tobago, Aruba, Curaçao, and Sint Maarten, visited the Governor of Curaçao, H.E. Lucille George-Wout, in a courtesy meeting. This significant encounter aimed to strengthen diplomatic relations and discuss potential areas of collaboration between the UNDP and Curaçao. 

Mr. Ugo Blanco's delegation included Mrs. Isele Robinson-Cooper, Programme Officer for Inclusive Growth & Social Policy; Mrs. Roxienne Albertina, Spokesperson of the Prime Minister of Curaçao; Mrs. Vanessa van Dijsseldonk, Senior Policy Advisor at DBB; and Mrs. Mariella Fernando, a member of the SDG Secretariat. 

During the meeting, the attendees explored various topics of mutual interest, emphasizing inclusive growth, social policies, and sustainable development goals. Both parties expressed their commitment to fostering cooperation and promoting socio-economic advancements in the region. This visit serves as a foundation for future collaborations that can potentially benefit the nations in the Caribbean region. 

The Governor of Curaçao, H.E. Lucille George-Wout, welcomed the UNDP delegation, and discussions revolved around shared goals, initiatives, and strategies to address critical issues affecting the region. The UNDP's focus on inclusive growth and social policy aligns with the government's vision for a prosperous and sustainable future for Curaçao and its neighboring countries.
