Twice as many soldiers on Curaçao

WILLEMSTAD - The 33rd rotation of the Army arrived on Curaçao this weekend. It must replace the 32nd rotation. Due to this previously planned operation, the Defense organization currently has twice as many military personnel, about 250 of whom are stationed on Curaçao.

The extra assistance from the U.S. also arrived this weekend. At the FOL base, 150 more will join to accommodate the extra deployment of aircraft. Due to the large drug seizures, this extra bet was already planned last month.

The military spokespersons of the U.S. and the Netherlands say that the rotations and extra effort have nothing to do with the turmoil in Curaçao.
