Trade unions angry with media statements by ministers

WILLEMSTAD - Trade unions have talked regarding the way ministers have recently spoken about civil servants in the media.

Union leader Frensel Josefina stated this during a press conference yesterday. He is vice-president of the "Central Commission of Trade Unions". He calls on ministers to discuss civil servants' issues with them before they go to the media.

As is well known, the Rhuggenaath government is working on a plan for freezing government holiday allowance.

The union leader says that right now nobody knows how great the willingness to take action among civil servants is, but it is certain that it is restless. The trade unions called on their members to meet with them during working hours.

Civil servants at the ministries will no longer receive an increase in their salary in the coming four years. Their salaries are frozen and will not be adjusted to the price level. According to the unions, the civil unions are the ones carrying the economic crisis. They don’t see the government taking actions against anybody else but the civil servants.
