Time Out extended, additional CMC support

WILLEMSTAD - The Time Out is extended by ten days. Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas announced this on Monday during the press conference. In addition, funds have been made available for additional healthcare personnel for the Curaçao Medical Center (CMC).

After consultation with the crisis team, Pisas concludes that people have generally adhered to the measures well. On January 6, the government announced a so-called Time Out. The curfew has been in place since January 7 from 10 p.m. to 4.30 a.m. Catering establishments and Truki Pan's (BBQ trucks) may remain open until 9 p.m. In addition, all events until January 17 were canceled.

The current measures will be extended by ten days. “We're not there yet,” says Pisas. “The numbers for the past few days are worrying, but without Time Out, the situation would have been much worse.” According to the prime minister, consultations have been held with the CMC and funds have been made available for additional healthcare personnel. In addition, options are being explored for the usage of the old hospital SEHOS.

Minister Dorothy Pietersz-Janga of Health, Environment and Nature (GMN) indicates that the majority of hospital admissions concern corona patients. She advises everyone to get the booster shot. "Stick to the rules. Wear a face mask. Do not trivialize the virus," emphasizes the health minister.
