THE HAGUE - Of the more than 2300 words that were spoken in the throne speech, 54 were devoted to the Caribbean parts of the Kingdom.
The first sentence concerned the special municipalities of Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba: “In the Caribbean Netherlands, too, we are improving purchasing power and infrastructure and strengthening governance.”
The second sentence reads as follows: “Due to the political and humanitarian crisis in Venezuela, the Caribbean part of the Kingdom is also confronted with the threat of large-scale migration and its economic consequences. Practical help and assistance are available from the Netherlands.”
That is everything King Willem-Alexander, or the Dutch government, said about the Caribbean part of the Kingdom.
