Ten million for new roads

WILLEMSTAD - The Ministry of Traffic, Transport and Spatial Planning (VVRP) is allocating ten million guilders for the repair of roads in Curaçao.

VVRP minister Charles Cooper says this budget is enough for the re-asphalting of fourteen to twenty major roads. The plan is to scrape off four inches of the old road surface and then pour four to five inches of new asphalt on top. Roads that are in such bad shape that they need to be reconstructed will be subject to a public tender next year.

The ministry is now ready to prepare the order forms. Reasphalting will start in the middle of next month.
