Teacher training at UoC starts again

Local | By Correspondent September 13, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - The University of Curaçao (UoC) will start again this year with a new cohort of the Teacher Training Fundamental Education (LOFO). The training has been operational in Curaçao and Bonaire since 2006.

The LOFO passes the test of the Dutch Flemish Accreditation Organization (NVAO) every six years. “In recent years, the training team has succeeded in providing a large number of teachers for basic education,” according to the UoC. “The graduates not only find their way within education in Curaçao and Bonaire, but also in the Netherlands.”

In Bonaire, the training is offered in a 'blended form', which means that the lessons are partly provided online. According to the university, efforts have been made in recent years to further expand the training. For example, there is an annual exchange with the University of Artevelde in Belgium.

Earlier this year, a follow-up study program was also offered in the form of a Master's degree program in Special Educational Needs (SEN), aimed at activities in special education.
