Tax Office: Quarter of salary data from employers still missing

Local | By Correspondent July 15, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - The Tax Office currently has the 2023 salary data of approximately 45,000 employees, received through the collective payroll statements from employers. For the year 2022, the Tax Office had salary data for more than 60,000 employees. This means that the Tax Office is still missing the data from about a quarter of the employees from their employers.

Without this salary data, the Tax Office cannot process income tax returns on time, which may lead to delays in issuing refunds.

The Curaçao Tax Office has already started processing the 2023 income tax returns. The first refunds will be paid out by the end of this month. In most cases, the Tax Office needs the collective payroll statement from employers to process the tax returns. This allows the Tax Office to automatically check whether the information in the return matches the employer's declaration.

Therefore, the Tax Office urges employers to submit the missing collective payroll statements as soon as possible. This helps ensure that employees receive the refunds they are entitled to quickly. Employers who have not yet submitted the required data will receive an individual reminder letter from the Tax Office.
