Tax authority hires nineteen new employees

Local | By Correspondent September 5, 2023

WILLEMSTAD - The Tax Authority has welcomed nineteen new employees who will be joining the Receiver's office.

The group includes eight individuals for the Special Collection department, four for the debt collector's department, and seven for the Billing team. Some of these new employees previously worked as temporary staff for the Receiver and are now being offered permanent positions. Others have transitioned from other government agencies or the private sector.

By expanding the Receiver's team, the Tax Authority aims to prevent any backlog in collections and unnecessary growth in the collection portfolio. This team is responsible for ensuring that the Receiver's operations remain up to date, making the management and predictability of collections more effective.

International studies and publications have shown that working in real-time is a solid foundation for the efficiency and effectiveness of tax collection and compliance improvement.

Significant progress has already been made on the tax assessment side of the Tax Authority in terms of clearing backlogs and transitioning to real-time operations, although there are still a few challenges to address.

The addition of these nineteen employees is a significant step toward achieving the goal of bringing the Tax Authority as a whole into real-time operations and enhancing compliance.
