Suspension health inspector extended

WILLEMSTAD - The suspension of Inspector-General Jan Huurman of the Inspectorate for Public Health has been extended. Last night the suspension ended at midnight and was extended by one month at the end of the afternoon.

In the middle of November, Huurman was relieved of his duties and activities as Inspector-General. The ministry said at the time that this measure was taken in response to Huurman's correspondence with the Minister of Public Health Suzanne Camelia-Römer. The inspector was under attack by statements he made about the investigation of pediatrician Sonja Faries in connection with the treatment of children with the disease type 1 diabetes.

The Inspector General wrote in a WhatsApp report to Minister Camelia-Römer that he will fight against her.

Huurman now declares to be sorry and to have dealt with that situation with the minister. Huurman notes that his statement should not be taken out of context.
