Supervision Cft will probably be extended

WILLEMSTAD - Because Curaçao and Sint Maarten still do not have their finances in order, the supervision of these countries is extended by three years. That is the expectation in The Hague after negative advice on the financial ins and outs of the two islands.

A special committee judges that the two countries of the kingdom in the years 2015-2017 have not done what they should have done to come out under the supervision. The committee, therefore, believes that supervision must be continued. The budgets of the islands do not meet or exceed the standards, despite all kinds of recommendations.

Curaçao and Sint Maarten are under special supervision since they became autonomous entities within the kingdom in 2010. After the first evaluation in 2015 for the first five years, the supervision had already been extended. The council of ministers of the kingdom is now going to consider the latest advice.
