WILLEMSTAD - The buses of ABC Busbedrijf are running normally again today. Due to a strike, no bus transport was possible for the past two days. Consultations have taken place in recent days between the company, the union and Minister of Traffic, Transport and Spatial Planning Zita Jesus-Leito. Ultimately, it was decided that bus fares will become 30 cents more expensive and the government will give more subsidies to the company. With these agreements, drivers have decided to go back to work.
Many drivers felt that the government paid too little attention to the bus company's poor financial position. Many are happy with the agreement that has now been reached. The company had already asked several times in 2019 to increase bus fares, but the government did not want to do so.
