WILLEMSTAD - Starting in 2025, all consultants working for the government will be required to submit annual proof of their tax compliance. This decision was made by the Council of Ministers at the end of 2023 following reports that some consultants were failing to meet their tax obligations. Consultants who do not provide proof of tax filing and payment compliance with the Tax Department will not receive payments from the government in 2025.
The required document will confirm that the consultant has no outstanding filings for sales tax, payroll tax, or corporate tax. This obligation extends not only to their business but also to personal income tax filings. If a consultant has any overdue payments, they must have arranged a payment plan. The compliance certificate for 2025 can be requested through the Curaçao Tax Department’s website.
The Ministry of Finance will enforce this measure strictly to ensure responsible use of public funds. According to the ministry, consultants are responsible for keeping their tax affairs in order on time to prevent government payments from being suspended in 2025.
