WILLEMSTAD - Since 1 June, the Ministry of Social Development, Labor and Welfare (SOAW) has been reinforced with a special unit that deals with subsidies. The group consists of ten additional employees.  

SOAW minister Ruthmilda Larmonie-Cecilia announced this on Thursday during a press conference. This is a one-year pilot project. The employees will start awarding and evaluating subsidies, which will improve the subsidy policy and make it more transparent.  

The ten extra employees have already followed various courses given by Dutch professionals. According to the minister, major steps are being taken to improve the financial administration of Curaçao.
