WILLEMSTAD - 39 soldiers of the army in Curaçao have tested positive for the corona virus. This was reported by the Dutch Ministry of Defense.

These are soldiers of the Company in the West who provide military assistance to civil authorities. The infected soldiers are in isolation at the Parera naval base. The rest of the Company is in quarantine as a precaution.

The company is often deployed for military assistance on the island. This is necessary, for example, if there has been a hurricane or to maintain public order. According to the Ministry of Defense, other military personnel are now available for these tasks.
