WILLEMSTAD - If the supply of medicines and materials is not replenished quickly, the Sint Elisabeth Hospital will no longer perform necessary operations and treatments.
Due to payment delays, suppliers refuse to accept orders. According to the hospital management, almost 45 million guilders are outstanding for invoices that are not paid on time. Immediately 10 million is needed to get orders delivered again. In the meantime, the stock has fallen below the standard that the Sehos maintains as a minimum. If this falls even further, the management fears that urgent treatments must also be suspended.
It was previously decided to refer patients for non-acute procedures and treatments to hospitals in the region. Sehos has been in financial trouble for quite some time. The Curacao Medical Center will open its doors on November 15. Because this is being explored by a new legal entity, suppliers fear that Sehos will not be able to pay its old debts.
