Scheduled question time on mental health care postponed due to minister's absence

WILLEMSTAD - The parliament of Curaçao convened Question Time for the first time this morning, a new instrument with which members of parliament can ask urgent questions to ministers about current topics. The session focused on the subject of the reorganization of the mental health sector, following a request from opposition MP Ana Maria Pauletta to debate it.

The Minister of Health, Environment, and Nature, Javier Silvania, was asked to answer questions from the MPs. Despite the presence of several MPs in the meeting room, the minister was absent. After a wait of more than half an hour, the president of parliament found that the minister would not show up because of an internal misunderstanding.

The President of Parliament informed the Members present that the questions on the subject mentioned would be dealt with during the next Question Time on 6 April. However, it was disappointing for the MPs who had come especially for this session to ask their questions.
