"Sargassum threatens beaches on the south side"

WILLEMSTAD - Watchful coastal visitors on the north side of the island have been seeing it coming for days: large amounts of sargassum seaweed.

But the stifling alga is now also visible on the south side of our island. According to several eyewitnesses, they now threaten the many bays and the port of Willemstad.

It is recommended to have cleanup crews on standby to keep the beaches clean.
