RVA: Screening law goes against the Constitution

WILLEMSTAD - The screening law that has been introduced in 2012 to screen possible candidates for the positions of ministers in the Curaçao government goes against the Constitution. This is according to the Advisory Council.

The Council ruled in favor of the law in 2012 when it was introduced by the interim cabinet headed by Stanley Betrian. But the same Council advises now that this law should be adjusted as soon as possible.

According to the Council, the most important point is that the law can be changed if two-thirds of Parliament agrees.
