WILLEMSTAD - A bout of rough seas and high waves pounded Curaçao yesterday, prompting the Meteorological Service to issue a yellow warning for the southern and southwestern beaches of the island.
At locations such as Playa Piskadó, swimmers and operators of small vessels were urged to exercise caution, with the warning in effect until yesterday afternoon.
The turbulent seas inflicted considerable damage on both Bonaire and Curaçao. STINAPA (National Parks Foundation) issued a warning on Bonaire, advising boat owners, divers, and water sports enthusiasts to exercise extra vigilance.
These challenging weather conditions are anticipated to persist until Sunday. Following the wind reversal, there have been numerous reports of jellyfish sightings, including the Portuguese Man o' War.
Due to safety concerns, Washington Slagbaai Park on Bonaire has been temporarily closed.
