Rhuggenaath visits humanitarian hub in Panama

WILLEMSTAD, PANAMA CITY - Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath visited the ‘Hub Humanitario’, a regional coordination center to assist with the coordination of humanitarian efforts in Latin- America and the Caribbean, for example in the case of natural disasters, calamities and humanitarian crises. The center is fully equipped, with warehousing space and information systems which are at the service of the region. The 'hub humanitario' will also serve as a place for capacity-building and skills-development for disaster coordination.

The prime minister spoke with the minister of internal affairs (Ministro del Gobierno) on joint coordination possibilities, seeing that Curaçao has played an important role during the devastating hurricane season of 2017 and the fact that our island is one of the humanitarian hubs and depots for civilian aid to Venezuela.

“It is an honor for a country to be part of a team working together for the benefit of the region,” said the Prime Minister.
