WILLEMSTAD - Ministers are currently not going to pay scale 18 as previously reported. They will remain in scale 17 until July next year.
The 25 percent salary cut that the Netherlands made mandatory in exchange for corona support will be maintained.
The higher pay scale for ministers was met with a lot of resistance, because ministers’ salaries were not reduced that much as a result, while civil servants had to give up a lot more.
Prime Minister Rhuggenaath is leaving for the Netherlands today to attend the Kingdom Council of Ministers. Curaçao is expected to finally sign the agreement which will allow the island to receive long-term corona support from the Netherlands.
