WILLEMSTAD - There is a reorganization process going on in Punda for the market stalls that are often empty now. This was announced by Mariela Olaria of the Ministry of Economic Development (MEO).
According to Olaria, exhibitors often only come when cruise ships are moored. The experience of our editors shows that even when there are ships, the exhibitors stay away. Olaria can't say much about that. The intention is that the stalls eventually are moved to Otrobanda.
In addition, the permit provisions are being tightened. Exhibitors must be present more often in their market stands. Empty stalls produce an ugly image. Since March 1, there is market manager who supervises the stands.
