WILLEMSTAD - The relocation of the Marshe Nobo entrepreneurs has begun. The first group of five entrepreneurs has already moved to the temporary location, according to Fundashon Marshe. The relocation is being done in phases to ensure a smooth and structured process.
The renovation of Plasa Nobo aims to modernize the market, improve hygiene, and enhance safety for both users and visitors. This renovation includes replacing all pillars in the building, a task not initially planned at the start of the project but deemed essential for the stability and safety of the structure.
Plasa Nobo, with its unique design and central location in Punda, is a vital part of the city center. Since its opening in 1975, the building has not undergone the necessary maintenance, resulting in a poor condition of the roof, pillars, concrete, and electrical systems. The current work is focused on addressing these urgent issues to make the market not only safer but also more attractive.
Relocation Plan
In collaboration with various stakeholders and after consulting the entrepreneurs involved, Fundashon Marshe developed a detailed relocation plan. Following the first group on August 15, more entrepreneurs have gradually moved in the following days. In total, 78 entrepreneurs will temporarily leave their usual spots at Marshe Nobo for locations such as Sha Capriles Kade, Plenchi Wilson Papa Godett (near the Post Office), Wolkstraat, Prinsenstraat, Hanchi Vi Coco, De Ruyterkade, and the Waaigat.
During the renovation, Fundashon Marshe invites everyone to continue supporting the entrepreneurs at their temporary locations. Although the renovations are expected to take about a year, the entrepreneurs remain active and accessible to their customers. This is a crucial time for the market, where supporting local businesses plays a key role in the success of the new Marshe Nobo.
