Refinery employees received information about their future

WILLEMSTAD - Refineria Isla employees received information about the future of the refinery during a meeting at the WTC yesterday. No concrete changes were indicated.

According to Angelo Meyer, president of the PWFC trade union, who represents the refinery workers, concrete information about the future will not be given until the earliest next month. Now all attendees were told that there is little interest in companies to lease the refinery for the longer term starting next year.  The contract with PDVSA will expire at the end of this year.

Although some companies are interested in keeping the refinery up and running for the time being, they first want more information about the condition of the refinery before agreements can be made. This means that the future of the refinery is still unclear.
