WILLEMSTAD - Hato International Airport on Curaçao is set to lower various fees and taxes in 2025, including airport security fees and passenger facility charges, as part of its annual adjustments required by law.
The airport security fee will decrease by $1.22 per passenger, dropping from $1.73 to $0.51 in 2025. This fee is recalculated each year based on the anticipated number of departing passengers. The reduction reflects an increase in passenger traffic, offsetting previous losses incurred during the pandemic.
Landing fees are also set to decrease, going from $8.97 per ton of weight to $7.59, with a minimum rate of $21.60 per aircraft. A portion of this fee goes toward air traffic control services, while the remainder is allocated to the terminal operator.
Parking fees for aircraft will remain unchanged at $0.61 per ton per 24 hours, with discounts of 50% for planes parked longer than three days and 75% for those parked over a month.
Passenger facility charges are also being lowered. Travelers heading to Aruba and Sint Maarten will soon pay $18 instead of the current $35. The charge for flights to Bonaire will drop from $18 to $15. For other destinations, the fee will fall from $58 to $48, while transit passengers will pay $10 instead of $15. These rates will take effect in 2025 and remain in place for three years.
These adjustments aim not only to make travel to and through Curaçao more affordable but also to stimulate tourism and passenger traffic in the coming years.
