Prosecution demands 30 years in prison for Jamaloodin plus 42 months in 2 other corruption cases

WILLEMSTAD - The Public Prosecution (OM) has demanded 30 years in prison for former Minister of Finance George Jamaloodin in the Maximus case which is the murder of former politician and former Member of Parliament Helmin Magno Wiels. The OM also demanded 42 months in the cases Passaat and Germanium.

The case Germanium is about fraud of almost half a million guilders, the former minister is said to have embezzled these subsidy funds. He pleaded guilty in that case.

The Passaat case concerns forgery and is denied by Jamaloodin. He was acquitted for this in the first instance.

Jamaloodin was sentenced to 28 years in prison by the judge in the court of first instance for the Maximus and Germanium cases.

The naval barracks in Suffisant are being used from 18 to 29 January to handle the three cases. The place is strictly secured.
