WILLEMSTAD - The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, Mr. Sithree van Heydoorn, in the presence of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Education, Ms. Susan Larmonie-van Heydoorn, has installed the strategic team and working group that will work on the implementation of the "Conscious Discipline" project. The delivery of the ordinance was in the presence of the Director of Education and Science, Mr. Wladimir Kleinmoedig, and the Director of Culture and Sports, Ms. Lizette Sambo-Velder, as collaborators from these sectors who will work on behalf of the areas of education, culture, and sports.
This project will involve close collaboration with all stakeholders. Together, they will work to establish a structure for the application of this methodology throughout the ministry, especially for pre-school, regular and special education professionals, and after-school care workers who work with our children from 0 to 14 years old. Conscious Discipline, or "Disiplina Konsiente" in Papiamento, is a transformative approach that begins with adults, who develop seven skills aimed at achieving self-regulation in social-emotional settings. The intention is for these adults to then guide young people to develop these same skills, so that they can also learn to regulate themselves in social and emotional situations.

The Project Team, which is responsible for the strategic level planning of the retraining of professionals in the development of social-emotional competencies through the methodology of Conscious Discipline, has been installed.
The focus of this group is on retraining professionals who guide and support our children from 0 to 14 years old in their development. Members of the strategic team are Ms. Sahayra Nisbet (chairperson), Mr. Euclides Perigault Monte, Ms. Patricia Maria, Ms. Hassenne Adams (secretary), and Ms. Sonaline George.
Minister Van Heydoorn has also installed the Working Group, which is responsible for coordinating the implementation plan of the "Conscious Discipline" project of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports.
