"Proficiency in Dutch is often insufficient in schools"

WILLEMSTAD - The command of the Dutch language is insufficient in many schools. This appears from a survey done by the Dutch newspaper Amigoe. Especially in Souax, Ser’i kandela, Seru Fortuna, Kanga and Kura Piedra this is becoming increasingly important.

The management of various schools indicated that grammar and spelling are of particular concern.

The poor command would be due to the fact that there are more and more students from other countries who do not speak Dutch, but also to the teachers. They would also often not have sufficient command of the language. The school management points out the importance of attracting more capable teachers.
