WILLEMSTAD - MCB Bank and CIBC FirstCaribbean have jointly provided financing of 32 million dollars (almost 59 million guilders) to Damen Dock Curaçao and Damen Shiprepair Curaçao.
This loan agreement relates to the two floating docks that entered Sint Anna Bay last year and are already in full use. Part of the financing provided also concerns the exploitation by Damen Curaçao.
This is "a big step for Curaçao," said Maduro & Curiel’s Bank and CIBC First Caribbean. It entails economic activity, more foreign exchange income and employment. "Another way to stimulate international business, something that our country can certainly benefit from."
All parties involved, both the banks and both Damen companies, are convinced that if investments are made in the island - "especially in less good times" - this will lead to positive developments for Curaçao. Developments now, but which also benefit future generations.
