WILLEMSTAD - Members of Parliament posed numerous questions yesterday to Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas regarding the controversial Oryx deal. During the discussion, it became clear that there had been a lack of "transparency, communication, and information" in the government's and Refineria di Kòrsou’s (RdK) process of selecting a new buyer for the refinery. The government eventually signed an agreement with Oryx Midstream, but many parliamentarians remain unclear about why this company was chosen.
Pisas received over 200 questions and is expected to return in two months to provide answers. The questions were directed at both Pisas and Patrick Newton, the director of RdK. Upon their return, they also plan to present a detailed explanation of the deal. Several parliamentarians emphasized that they would have preferred to receive information about the agreement much earlier.
