Prime Minister Curaçao travels to The Hague

WILLEMSTAD - Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath has left for the Netherlands today. He attends the Kingdom Council of Ministers in The Hague on Friday.

There the prime minister will convey the official position of his government regarding the acceptance of the conditions that the Netherlands has set for long-term corona support.

Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath said yesterday in a press conference that he did not agree with the demands of the Netherlands.

“We have to do it responsibly and analyze what is on the table now and request advice about it. We have now also done that. It is also fair and only correct to approach parliament before you can agree to any condition whatsoever.”

"We cannot be expected to simply saddle our country and our parliament with a package of conditions imposed by the Netherlands, including a Kingdom Act, simply for the next installment, not to mention a 'saku di plaka' (a bag of money)," said the Prime Minister.

Minister Steve Martina will oversee Rhuggenaath’s ministries. The prime minister will return on Sunday.
