Premier visits Port of Rotterdam; is positive about future cooperation

ROTTERDAM, WILLEMSTAD - According to the Prime Minister of Curaçao Eugene Rhuggenaath, he had a good conversation with CEO of Port of Rotterdam (PoR), Allard Castelein, together with fellow Minister of Economic Development, Giselle McWilliam. The cooperation that recently started between PoR and Curaçao is going well and the ties have been further strengthened, says the Premier. During a personal visit, the opportunity was taken to thank PoR on behalf of Curaçao for good cooperation.

During Mayor Aboutaleb's last visit to Curaçao, he stated that Rotterdam is prepared to cooperate with Curaçao in the area of port and social development. Like Curaçao, the city of Rotterdam has in the past been confronted with times of challenging economic conditions. Yet they have managed to use the resources at their disposal, in particular the Port of Rotterdam, as a catalyst to bring about overall economic change.

“Port of Rotterdam is now an innovative port and the largest port in Europe. And Curacao will make good use of Rotterdam's benevolence to help and we have already come to concrete agreements, assures the Premier.

Rhuggenaath stressed that just like the port of Rotterdam means employment, income, innovation, a new generation of clean energy for the municipality of Rotterdam, Curaçao can also go for a "new horizon" with sustainable development.
