Police officer “borrows” seized money

WILLEMSTAD - A remarkable case came up in court in Curaçao yesterday. A police officer confessed that in October last year he would have borrowed 15,000 guilders. The money had been confiscated during an investigation into theft.

The money was stolen from a business owner, who later came to the police to collect his belongings. There, however, an officer appeared to have "borrowed" the money. He promised the business owner to repay the money in installments in the near future. However, the officer has not made any payments since then.

The police have indicated that they will take steps against the man.
