Police deny privacy violation during traffic checks

WILLEMSTAD - There are rumors on social media that officers of the Curaçao Police Force (KPC) are looking into the phones of people who are stopped during a traffic check. The police emphatically deny this.

According to the reports, police officers would snoop in private messages, among other things to check whether there is a warning about the traffic checks received via certain WhatsApp groups. The police said in a statement that their investigation did not reveal any cases of such privacy violation. If this is the case, this can be reported immediately, according to the police chief.
