WILLEMSTAD - The police carried out checks in several areas on the island last week. Together with Customs and VKC (voluntary corps), people were randomly searched at snack bars and stopped while walking on the street.

That happened in Punda, Skalo, Koraal Specht, the Penstraat and the Oranjestraat in the Nieuw Nederland district, among others.

Suspicious cars were also stopped and checked.

At least ten people were arrested, for possession of drugs. But most because they could not show residence papers.
