WILLEMSTAD - Opposition party MFK is not opposed to the Caribbean Reform Entity (CHE) but believes that the term should be shorter. This is what party leader Gilmar 'Pik' Pisas says in answer to questions from the media. The CHE is one of the conditions for receiving funding from the Netherlands.
Pisas understands that the Netherlands sets conditions for the loan, but finds the conditions as they are now on the table very drastic. "You come with an entity that will sit down for six years and then there is a chance that the term will be extended. Pisas wants the term to be reduced. He thinks that because of the institution of the CHE the politicians in Curaçao get a certificate of incapacity and he does not want that.
Pisas admits that Curaçao is losing autonomy due to the CHE and came up with the idea of invoking article 54 of the Charter to call in the Court of Audit. "Then we will immediately agree," said Pisas.
