WILLEMSTAD - The pedestrian crossing near Bakkerij de Zon has been removed by the Department of Public Works. It turned out that it was painted by the residents themselves which is against the law.

“That is not the intention,” said the Minister of Traffic, Transportation and Urban Planning Zita-Jesus Leito. A pedestrian crossing at that location can itself be life-threatening, because the speed of traffic there is too high.

Residents are angry because the government should have been doing something about road safety there a long time ago.
