Paul Rosenmöller Chairman of the Senate Committee on Kingdom Relations

THE HAGUE - The Senate Committee for Kingdom Relations has appointed Paul Rosenmöller (GroenLinks) as chairman. He takes over from his party colleague Ruard Ganzevoort. Jeroen de Vries (Forum for Democracy) is vice-president.

From 1989 to 2003, Rosenmöller was a member of the House of Representatives, of whom in recent years he has been a party leader. In that period, he was also chairman of the Chamber Committee for Dutch Antillean and Aruban Affairs. Since 11 June he has been chairman of the GroenLinks faction in the Senate.

In 2001, Rosenmöller led the committee which was commissioned by the then Minister of Kingdom Relations, Piet Hein Donner, to investigate the accusation of President Emsley Tromp of the Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten that the Schotte Cabinet was corrupt.

The committee concluded that Prime Minister Gerrit Schotte and some of his ministers could not have passed the screening and they should never have been appointed, but Donner did not dare to intervene. Schotte (who is currently serving a sentence for corruption and money laundering) dismissed the report as a collection of gossip. Rosenmöller was declared persona non grata by the Curaçao government.
