Passenger dies on KLM flight to Ecuador, aircraft stayed on Curaçao

WILLEMSTAD - A young woman from Ecuador died on Wednesday afternoon aboard the KL 755 from Amsterdam to Quito. The woman had become unwell during the flight. The pilot then decided to land in the Azores for precaution.

When the woman recovered after CPR, it was decided to continue flying for a stopover in Curaçao.

But even before the Boeing 777-200 reached the island, the condition of the woman deteriorated again and she died. The pilot then decided to land on Curaçao to take the body off board.

The crew then were then over their maximum flight time and had to maintain a mandatory rest period. All passengers were then disembarked and accommodated in hotels in Curaçao. On Thursday morning at 11 a.m. the aircraft took off to its final destination in the capital of Ecuador.
