Parliament leadership meeting to discuss gang problems in Curacao

WILLEMSTAD - PAR faction leader Ana Maria Pauletta is requesting a so called ‘seniorenconvent’, a closed meeting of the faction leaders in parliament, with the Minister of Justice about the gang violence in Curacao.

Organized crime is getting closer and closer to everybody on the island, observes the people's representative. The underworld is also well integrated into society. Still, there seems to be some hesitation about bringing the matter up in parliament, says Pauletta.

If so then she wants to break the taboo. Not everything about the subject can be made public, hence a closed meeting.

Only a few days ago, Curacao was startled by a robbery murder of an 81-year-old woman. The mother of a former Member of Parliament.
