WILLEMSTAD - The PAR party faction in Parliament has submitted a request for a central commission meeting on the 2022 annual report of APC with the APC board and the Ministers of Finance and Government Policy (BPD). PAR sent a letter to the President of Parliament to request a central commission meeting with the APC board and the Ministers of Finance and BPD to discuss the topic: Explanation of APC's 2022 annual report, its impact on policyholders, and prospects for the future.
The reason for their request is that the pension topic has become highly relevant now that the Curaçao community is eagerly waiting for the developments in the Ennia case and its effects on policyholders. According to the opposition faction, Curaçao's community is also concerned about how the government will resolve this significant issue.
"In recent years, our community has experienced a lot of uncertainty regarding companies known as 'solid' in the community, but due to poor management, negative financial results have led to problems for their clients and the community in general," the MPs stated in their letter.
The PAR faction mentioned that they don't want to wait until the last moment but would like to receive specific information from APC to avoid any surprises that could have a major impact on the country's finances and the community as a whole, should something go wrong. APC is of such magnitude that any mishap could be devastating to Curaçao's financial system.
Therefore, by making use of Article 33 of the Parliament's Rules of Order, PAR requests the President of Parliament to convene a Central Commission meeting to deliberate on this highly important issue.
Considering that APC is a vital institution for the government, being the pension fund for Curaçao's civil servants, the request is also made to invite APC's management, Finance Minister Mr. J. Silvania, and BPD Minister Mr. O. Martina to attend this meeting.
