WILLEMSTAD – The two editions of ‘Global Money Week’ in Curaçao were a total success, with over 950 secondary school students participating. Global Money Week took place from March 17 to 20. During the week, attention was drawn to the importance of developing financial knowledge within our communities.

Pichiri - Sabí ku sèn, the local initiative that organized Global Money Week Curaçao, together with other volunteers, held a total of 32 “Skol di Plaka Sessions” at various secondary schools. The “Skol di Plaka Sessions” are workshops conducted in Papiamentu or Dutch, completely free of charge, for students in the upper years of secondary schools.
Pichiri - Sabí ku sèn reflected on a very powerful week, where our communities, as well as teachers, were able to learn more about managing their money, financial tips, and exchange with others on topics of money and financial education. One thing that stood out on several occasions was the importance of talking about money at home with parents, as well as with teachers and students. Many times, our communities begin dealing with money at a young age, whether they are given an allowance or receive a monthly income, but they often don't know how to manage money effectively.
A big thank you goes to all the schools that participated in Global Money Week 2025 in Curaçao: St Paulus AGO, Maris Stella SBO, Nilda Pinto SBO, Maris Stella VSBO, University of Curaçao, Radulphus College, Frater Aurelio SBO, Gouverneur J.R. Lauffer, Joseph Civilis VSBO, VSBO St. Jozef, SKAIH Pre-University, Dr. Albert Schweitzer College Parera.
We also extend our immense gratitude to the volunteers who provided the ‘Skol di Plaka Sessions’ at all participating schools.
The team at Pichiri - Sabí ku sèn is committed and determined to organize the third edition of Global Money Week next year in Curaçao. Stay tuned for more information about Global Money Week 2026, and also find out how we can further expand financial knowledge and education here in Curaçao.
