Over 4000 vaccinations in 1 day

WILLEMSTAD - The number of daily vaccinations in Curacao is increasing. 4269 people have been vaccinated in the past 24 hours. A total of 45,386 people have had their first shot at 10 am this morning. 66,984 people have made an appointment or already had their first or second vaccination. 12,789 people have even had a second vaccination.

The government has the ambition to vaccinate about 7,000 people a day. By the end of April, anyone who wants to should be able to have their first injection, Outgoing Minister of Public Health Zita Jesus-Leito said last week. In the coming days, a new large vaccination center will open in the World Trade Center in addition to the existing locations.

In total, the authorities hope to vaccinate 85% of the adult population of Curacao. That equates to about 105,000 people. At a rate of 85% vaccination, there would be group immunity within a society.
