ORCA VI sold for higher amount than book value

WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao Towage Company (KTK) sold the Orca VI for $2 million. That is more than the value recorded at the Curaçao Ports Authority's subsidiary. A Greek company is now the new owner. Already in 2015, the towage company decided to sell the tug.

The Orca VI is a special tugboat that is used for long distances and off-shore projects. Due to its size, the Orca VI is unsuitable for the Curaçao harbor. There is also little interest in the region to hire the tugboat. The Orca VI consumes expensive fuel compared to other tugs. At KTK's request, DAMEN Trading Gorinchem sought buyers. More than thirty companies have been approached. In the end, only the Greek company turned out to be interested.
