Opposition MPs hire their own lawyers

WILLEMSTAD -The opposition parties in parliament will use their own lawyers for the summary proceedings in the Shaheen Elhage case. He wants to enforce accession in parliament now that the opposition MPs are boycotting the meetings.

Chester Peterson and Sheldry Osepa must take the honors for nine out of ten Members of Parliament. Marilyn Moses does not participate in that pool. The costs, if it is up to the opposition, will be paid from parliament’s budget. This is striking because every Member of Parliament has been summoned personally.

President of parliament Ana-maria Pauletta, who has appointed her own lawyer on behalf of MPs, will respond to the announcement of the opposition later this week. The summary proceedings will be served on Friday August 7.
