OM: Investigation into Facebook messages.

WILLEMSTAD - The Public Prosecution Service has initiated an investigation into a comment on Facebook after a tragic accident on 20 December last, in which a motorcyclist died. This comment was posted from a private Facebook account of Norman Serphos, spokesman for the Public Prosecution Service. Serphos reported the fact that his account was abused immediately after he saw the comment on his FB account.

By order of the Public Prosecution Service, the criminal investigation department started an investigation into the incident.

Two of the relatives, along with a journalist, visited the Chief Public Prosecutor this afternoon and officially filed a complaint against Norman Serphos. On behalf of the Public Prosecution Service, the Chief Public Prosecutor has expressed his condolences to the next of kin who already have such difficulties during this period.

The police investigation, together with the RST, will be completed as soon as possible. The Public Prosecution Service, together with the police, will continue to work to find out what really took place. As soon as the results of the investigation are in, the Public Prosecution Service will announce this. It will also be announced what steps the Public Prosecution Service will take against the person who has committed to posting the comments on Facebook.
