OM demands 30 years against former minister of finance

Jamaloodin denies any involvement in the case

WILLEMSTAD - The Public Prosecution Service (OM) in Curaçao has demanded a 30-year prison sentence on Tuesday against former Minister of Finance George Jamaloodin. According to the OM he gave the order and the money for the murder of the popular politician and former Member of Parliament Helmin Wiels in 2013.

Earlier, the Curaçaoan Burney Fonseca was convicted to 26 years for arranging the murderer by order of Jamaloodin. In 2014, Elvis Kuwas was sentenced to life imprisonment for various murders, including Helmin Wiels.

Jamaloodin denies any involvement in the case. The former minister is also on trial for abuse of government subsidies and forgery.
