WILLEMSTAD - According to the health inspection, no measles cases are known in Curaçao. Many people in Curaçao are afraid that the disease will be transmitted from Venezuela.
In the Netherlands there was recently an outbreak at a daycare center in The Hague. And in America even a state of emergency has been declared in Brooklyn, New York because of the measles.
But according to the inspection, the vaccination rate on our island is good and the chance of an outbreak is very small. The Public Health Department has, however, extended its vaccination campaign to more risk groups.
